Three people were stabbed in an apparent attack on New Year’s Eve at a British train station, the police said.
In a statement, the British Transport Police said officers received a call at 8:52 p.m. about “a man wielding a knife” at the Manchester Victoria train station, in Northern England.
They said they had detained a suspect.
One man and one woman was taken to the hospital with knife injuries, and an officer was being treated for a stab wound to the shoulder, the authorities said.
Manchester Metrolink, which runs train service in and around the city, said that it had shut down tram service because of the incident.
