JERUSALEM — Two rockets were fired at Tel Aviv, Israel’s largest city, from the Gaza Strip on Thursday, the Israeli military reported.
One landed in an open area. The other was intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, the military said.
This was the first time since 2014 that rockets were fired into the Tel Aviv area.
Rocket alert sirens sounded across the city and the mayor of Tel Aviv opened bomb shelters.
Initial Israeli news media reports said that there was no damage or casualties.
